What a marvellous evening we had at Scribblers tonight with our dear friend Ruth. And how nice to see so many people in attendance.
Ruth took us from the time she wrote her first words through her research, the competitions, the struggle to overcome broken promises of agents, before the eventual acceptance and publication of her novels. She took us back to her very first publication, The James Version and told us about how her fantastic map reading took her husband and them miles away from where they wanted to be and ended up at Polstead. So began her research and intrigue into the Red Barn Murder.
Those who attended will have learned how important a part Felixstowe Scribblers played in her early days at the group and how she shared some of her writing and then had to read it out. Terrifying! It helped her overcome her fear of reading in public as well as some positive feedback from her circle of Scribbler friends. She really is an inspiration to us all.
We now look forward to our next meeting (on 21st of July) which is the geographical one when we ask you to write up to 1,000 words on a place or country of your choice. It can be factual or creative writing. The choice is absolutely yours!
Until next time,
Keep Scribbling.
