Formed over forty years ago, our Writers Circle is based in Felixstowe, Suffolk. Meetings are held in The Room at the Top in Felixstowe Library, normally on the first and third Tuesday of each month commencing at 7.30pm and finishing by 10.00pm. Check this weblog for details of meetings.

There is an annual November to November fee of £30, April to November is £20 and June to November £15. For members preferring to pay at each meeting the charge is £5 per meeting. The Bill Budner Competition.

Members have a week to read and then choose their favourite three stories. The top three choices should be indicated by emailing Georgina stating 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the corresponding story titles.

Please don’t make any comments below the stories until the outcome has been announced.

All entries have been published anonymously, with only a story title and a corresponding letter of the alphabet. Once you have made your selections please email your top three stories stating 1st, 2nd and 3rd with story title to Georgina by Tuesday 9th March.

When all the votes are in and scores have been double checked, the winning entries will be announced.

Creative Future Writers’ Award 2021

 The 2021 Creative Future Writers’ Award is now open for entries. There are £10,000 in cash and development prizes available, plus publication and reading at an award event as part of the London Literature Festival (TBC). The judges are novelist Dorothy Koomson, poet Joelle Taylor, Aki Schilz of The Literary Consultancy and Sarala Estruch of Poetry School. This year's theme is ‘Essential.’

 

It is open to UK residents/UK citizens living abroad, over 18 years old, who have not previously published a single-author book. The Award is for under-represented writers—including those who lack opportunities due to mental health, disability, health, and from working class, LGTBQIA+, and Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds.
