Meeting report

Meeting at Room at the Top
15th June 2010.

Those present

Dick, Liliane, Peter, Les, Jane, Linda, Tony, Dave, Trish and Barry
(Chair) and new member Malcolm.

First of all I would like to welcome Malcolm, who showed considerable
determination to undertake the trek from Hollesley to our meeting. We
hope he will find the group a sufficient draw to keep him coming in
the future.

Welcome back to Les after a weeks enforced confinement in Ipswich
Hospital where he was nursed back to health by our NHS professionals
there. We were pleased to find that his stay had not dampened his
natural wit which showed through having completed his homework in a
hospital bed. No mean feat!!!

The homework subject was 'Absent Friends' and as usual we had the
diverse interpretations of this theme, both humorous and those of a
more serious nature.

All pieces were received with enthusiasm and we noticed a slight
change in the temperature of the meeting whereby there was a bit more
interchanging of views on the works.

With eleven present it might be that we were worried over nothing with
regard to our flagging attendance figures; we shall see. Anyway, the
meeting seemed to go off well and what follows is a list of the pieces
entered and read last night.

Dick: Absent Friends?
Trish: Whiskey
Liliane: A toast to absent friends
Peter: Behind their back
Les: Take me home
Jane: Baking day
Malcolm: The Pied Piper of Lambeth
Linda: Bitter Sweet
Dave: Tragedy of War
Tony: Chapter 17. No place like Emoh
Barry: The road sweeper

The next meeting will be on the 6th July when the homework assignment will be up to 1,000 words on 'Mountaineering".

See you there!

Barry
