Formed over forty years ago, our Writers Circle is based in Felixstowe, Suffolk. Meetings are held in The Room at the Top in Felixstowe Library, normally on the first and third Tuesday of each month commencing at 7.30pm and finishing by 10.00pm. Check this weblog for details of meetings.

There is an annual November to November fee of £30, April to November is £20 and June to November £15. For members preferring to pay at each meeting the charge is £5 per meeting. Another collection of genius...

The meeting tonight had two elements to it, the first over the proposed change of policy, and the second, the creative brilliance of our writers.

With regard to the change in policy brought about by the forthcoming implementation of hire charges for The Room at the Top, all members with Internet access were circulated to find whether they preferred an annual fee of £25 or a meeting by meeting charge of £3.

The options are very much divided between those who regularly attend and those infrequent attendees. The decision was to allow both choices so those members wishing to pay an annual fee should pay by 6th November whilst for others the £3 per meeting charge will apply from the meeting on the same day.

On this weblog you will notice an icon on the right that links to the 2013 Book Festival website and will bring you up to date with all the plans and events. There is also the option to sign up for a free newsletter. This promises to be a really big event - the first of its kind in Felixstowe - and success will make it an annual attraction.

The creativity of the Scribblers has never been in doubt but this evening, with a subject of 'rent', each writer produced a superb work - surely for entertainment alone it is worth coming along just to listen to all the stories. Where can you get such entertainment for £3 an evening?

Our next meeting reverts to our anonymous competition for attending writers for the Bill Budner Trophy. Background, rules and previous winners can be found at the top of this weblog. The meeting will be held on 18th September.

Until then,

Keep Scribbling!
