Next week we hold the prestigious competition for the Bill Budner Trophy. The evening will see the presentation of the original trophy, engraved with all its 21 winners, to Bill's widow Maureen.
Bill may only have been a Scribbler for a short time but he is remembered by many for his friendly and easy manner and his writing prowess. Maureen has kindly purchased a replacement trophy which will be the prize for the winner of the evening's in house competition for attending writers only.
The rules are simple; provide a story on any subject in a maximum of 1,000 words. Entries must not be marked with name or any other identification. On arrival the entry should be placed face down on the table provided and then each story will be read out by two volunteer readers. We were hoping to have someone from the Speakers Club to read the entries but have yet to receive confirmation of their attendance. If not then we hope Beryl and Dick might do the honours once again. The winner will be chosen from the story gaining the highest number of votes.
Full details can be found on our weblog
The meeting takes place on Tuesday 20th May in The Room at the Top. Start time 7.30pm.
To all those taking part, good luck and may the best story win!
On the subject of our Felixstowe Scribblers Anthology, Caz and Dave met the printers earlier in the week. The meeting was very productive and we now know the schedules for the print run. We need any further work for inclusion in the anthology to reach us at the very latest by 20th May. After this date we are afraid that nothing more can be added.
We have also been in contact with Giles who will do a small number of copies of The Lost Sock DVD ready for the Book Festival event when the film will be shown in our favourite room in the Library. Details will follow nearer the time.
Next on the agenda is to obtain some display boards so if anyone has any idea where there are some for purchase at a reasonable price then please let us know.
We reached a landmark today when our weblog topped the amazing 50,000 hits. Astonishing! Grateful thanks to all who have viewed the site.
Below are details of how to enter the Aesthetica Creative Writing
Hope to see you on Tuesday next,
Until then,
Keep Scribbling!!!
