HOLDING THE FORT

Landguard Fort  Felixstowe  :  Saturday June 28th 2014

PART OF THE FELIXSTOWE BOOK FESTIVAL 2014
Landguard Fort is a wonderful theatrical space with the parade ground surrounded by a myriad of rooms and levels and spaces and access to an outer keep and dry moat.  We had a wonderful day last year entitled FLOTSAM AND JESTAM.  This year the theme will be very loosely based on The First World War – hence the titles.  Ideas so far include:

PERFORMANCE
Writers, actors, local theatre companies performing individual stories based on memories, books, poetry, or simply imagination.   10-15 minutes performed throughout the day in individual rooms or anywhere in the fort.

MEMORIES
Large room draped with netting where people can pin up memories/family stories and copies of photos.
This is the last time we will get ‘memories.
Will perhaps put these in a book the library later.
These could involve adults and children.

MUSIC
Military Bands (Salvation Army and/or Army)
Soldiers songs - ommunity and schools choirs – possibly even the army.
Also women’s songs, love songs, dance music, music hall
